R. Michael Johnson, Jr .
Michael Johnson is a 1993 graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1996 with a Juris Doctor. He is the founding partner of Michael Johnson, P.C. & Associates, a law firm with offices in Fort Mill and Indian Land which practice in commercial and residential real estate law.
Michael was previously elected to two terms on the Fort Mill School Board, and from 2013 to 2020 on the York County Council representing District One. Michael served as Chairman of the Council for two years. Currently Michael is a SC State Senator representing District 16 which encompasses Tega Cay, Fort Mill, Indian Land and parts of Lancaster County. Michael is a past member of the Fort Mill Rotary Club, where he served as President, the Upper Palmetto YMCA Executive Board, and is a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce's Leadership York County program. Michael has served on both the American Red Cross Board and the Teen Health Center Board. He has also served as the Election Attorney for the York County Republican Party and as a Precinct Committeeman. Michael is a graduate of Leadership South Carolina as well.
Michael is an active youth volunteer involved in Junior Achievement in the Fort Mill School District. He has coached youth football and youth soccer at the recreational and Club levels for over ten years. Michael and his wife, Amy, live in Tega Cay with their 2 children.
